### Lab safety inspections expand\_more

Use AIMS to manage lab safety inspections.

AIMS notifies designated lab staff about inspection reports and corrective actions. You can also review inspection results in AIMS.

AIMS area managers can:

- Update inspection reports as changes happen.
- Manage and close corrective actions.
- Track your status to quickly address corrective actions.

### Lab personal protective equipment assessments expand\_more

Lab Safety Officers (LSO) and lab representatives use AIMS to conduct PPE self-assessments.

These assessments identify PPE requirements for:

- Whole lab group activities.
- Activities in specific rooms or other parts of lab operations.
- Specific lab processes.
- [Additional PPE requirements for schools, departments, and labs](/resource/personal-protective-equipment "Personal Protective Equipment").

Principal Investigators (PI) and core facility managers can either:

- Approve assessments in AIMS.
- Print and sign assessments after their designated LSO completes them in AIMS.

PIs, core facility managers, or designees must **review and update lab PPE assessments at least once a year** or whenever there are significant changes to processes or materials.

### Radioactive materials and radiation-generating devices expand\_more

Follow the [Radiation AIMS User Guide](/resource/radiation-assessment-and-inspection-management-system-user-guide "Radiation Assessment and Inspection Management System User Guide") to:

- Apply for and manage radiation use permits.
- Buy radioactive materials with external funds and radioactive material samples.
- Manage radioactive material inventories.
- Request radioactive waste pickups.
