EH&S provides services designed to minimize the risks associated with the use of hazardous chemicals in research, teaching, and conservation laboratories; and laboratory support facilities. We also help the laboratory community ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations addressing chemical use in these areas.

Department Update

An interactive online annual general lab safety refresher training available now through the EH&S Training Management System includes modules on chemical waste management and the OSHA Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of hazard communication.

Did You Know?

Solid carbon dioxide, or dry ice, converts directly to carbon dioxide gas and displaces oxygen. Do not store or use dry ice in cold rooms or other rooms that do not have adequate ventilation.
