Chemical Inventory and Door Placard System

Summary

How to manage your group’s chemical inventory and door placards in LabCup and LabPoint.

Who is this for?

Everyone who works with hazardous chemicals in Harvard lab buildings, including building staff, lab staff, and researchers.

Managing your chemical inventory and door placards

Use the online LabCup and LabPoint systems to manage your group’s chemical inventory and door placards.

These systems help you understand, communicate, and track chemical hazards, safely handle chemicals, and meet regulatory requirements.

LabPoint users will transition to LabCup in 2026. Each group completes onboarding, including setup and training, before using LabCup.

  • Before LabCup onboarding: Continue using LabPoint.
  • After LabCup onboarding: Use LabCup.

You can check if your group is onboarded into LabCup.

LabCup

If your group is onboarded, use LabCup to:

  • Create and update door placards.
  • Manage a chemical inventory that updates immediately.
  • Manage safety data sheets (SDS).
  • View floorplans.
  • View safety and compliance reports, including maximum allowable quantities.

To learn more, follow the LabCup User Guide or visit Chemical Inventory Management System.

LabPoint

If your group is not onboarded into LabCup, continue using LabPoint to:

  • Create and update door placards with chemical, biological, and radiological hazard pictograms.
  • Manage a chemical inventory.

To learn more, follow the LabPoint User Guide.
