Laboratory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Laboratory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is an important factor in your safety when working in the laboratory. PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, and lab coats, supplements your laboratory’s safety equipment and established experimental protocols.

With this in mind, Harvard University issued a PPE Policy that requires the Principal Investigator, or their designee, to regularly assess PPE needs and ensure PPE is provided and properly used in the laboratory.

EH&S has created a tool to assist laboratory personnel with the implementation of the Policy. See the related section on Lab PPE for the online lab PPE assessment tool, policy, and other supporting documents.
