Commencement Emergency Exercise & Evacuation Procedures

In preparation for Harvard's 364th Commencement on , key leadership from across the University as well as first responders from the Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Police Department, Professional Ambulance, and Securitas participated in an emergency “tabletop” exercise on to review and practice Harvard's emergency plans and procedures.

The exercise scenario focused on a severe weather event bringing heavy rain, high winds, and lightning to the metro Boston area on the day of Commencement, creating the need to evacuate Tercentenary Theatre, which is outdoors, during the morning degree-conferring ceremonies.

Should an actual evacuation of Tercentenary Theatre be needed during Commencement, visit Commencement Emergency Evacuation Plan 2015 for attendee evacuation guidance.
