Building Renovation
EH&S helps facility managers understand environmental issues that may affect their renovations. We can help you incorporate these issues into your planning process to limit cost and schedule implications.
Our resources cover specific environmental issues including air emission sources, geothermal wells, hazardous materials (PCBs, lead paint, and asbestos), stormwater, and tank removal and installation.

Department Update
All projects that could potentially generate dust, regardless of the presence or absence of asbestos, must file a MassDEP permit AQ-06 at least 10 days prior to the start of disturbance. MassDEP will ask for the AQ-06 permit number if your project needs an emergency waiver for unexpected asbestos.
Did You Know?
Construction and demolition (C&D) debris are prohibited from Massachusetts landfills, but much of them can be recycled. Contractors should work with EH&S and OFS to develop a Waste Management Plan that uses Harvard University approved facilities.
